David Bouskila was born in Israel and has spent his life giving back to his country. He has graduated 4 times in statuary law, economy, work studies and a course of director’s training in municipal and public corporation.  Since his army service where he worked as a medic at the Artillery Corps, he has built an exceptional relationship with the town of Sderot, which is in Israel’s Negev. Before becoming the Mayor of Sderot, David was the Chairman of multiple committees specifically dedicated to the city.  These included the local committee for the planning and building of Sderot, the committee of sewerage conurbation in Sderot and of the Infrastructure committee in the forum of development towns in the local authority.

In 1984 David was appointed Sderot’s Treasurer, holding the responsibility of the manpower, payment departments and the municipality’s income and expenses. His position as Treasurer lasted only 4 years, until 1989 when he was nominated Mayor of Sderot.  David served two terms as Mayor between 1989 and 1998, significantly guiding and leading the town of Sderot through the first Gaza operation. In this time David started the city’s education, welfare, engineering and emergency service systems. After two terms as Mayor, David went on to become a self-employed economic advisor for some years before starting his third term as Mayor of Sderot in 2008. During David’s third term as Mayor he prepared and managed the city under security escalations and supervised a great project for the city’s protection, building 4500 safe rooms for Sderot residents following the second Gaza operation. Up until the end of his term in 2013, David frequently gave lectures to army officers and diplomatic senior staff discussing the security status of Sderot as well as about Israel’s political situation in particular about the Gaza conflict.
