We are bringing the Mother Daughter MaTaN Bat-Mitzvah Programme to HGSS.  This is an opportunity for mothers and daughters to learn together about “Jewish Women through the Ages.”   The programme enables girls to learn with each other, and with their Mothers to help prepare them for their Bat Mitzvah, and we are excited to invite you to be part of it.

The programme consists of ten monthly sessions, during which mothers and daughters study the lives of various Jewish role models who lived in different generations and places.  Encountering these women through varied sources, written, visual and experiential, mothers and daughters are able to appreciate the uniqueness of these women’s lives in relationship not only to the period in which they lived, but to modern times as well.  The aim is to see how we, as Jewish women, are part of a chain across the generations, and how the Bat Mitzvah experience can serve as a bridge connecting the young girl to Jewish continuity.  You can learn more about it here:  www.matan.org.il/eng/bat.asp?category=2780.

The HGSS pre Bar Mitzvah Boys and their Fathers.

We have opened this up to any boy currently in year 7 (the year before Bar Mitzvah) and through various evenings through the year, we hope to enhance your shul experience, help you to meet other families also going through the Bar Mitzvah journey, learn about Tefilin and why its such a special mitzvah, and much more.
